Waste Collection Service
Garbage collection
Acuña has at this moment a system of garbage collection, that is provided by Promotora Ambiental La Laguna, which maintains a cover of 95% of urban spots and offers this service with recent equipment and personnel.
The average volume that is generated in the locality is 90 tons daily and in the commercial and industrial sector is more than 30 tons. In the case of the commerce and the industry, the service can be carried out by the concessionary company, or directly taken to the sanitary filling facility by the owner or company producing the waste materials.
Waste disposition
The final waste disposition is carried out in a modern sanitary filling that is located 7.5 kilometers of the city, on highway Acuña- Santa Eulalia. These facilities consists of 24 hectares property of Acuña and is operated by means of concision by the same company that serves waste collection.
The sanitary filling operates under the trench method and a part of the sweepings is buried underneath the Earth level and the rest over this. Daily the received sweepings, (near 120 tons) is compacted mechanically and covered with limestone earth, to avoid its propagation, the mentioned site, counts on scale, house of monitoring, peripheral wall, chimneys for biogas, impermeable cover, leached access roads and lagoon. The considered life utility of the sanitary filling 15 years.
